Some issues which have been identified as needing our attention: Letters to the Editor; Talking Points with FriendsThe newly redrawn State House and Senate districts have been released. Howell County has lost Mtn. View to the Texas county house district, but gained back the south west corner of the County. The Senate district has added Popular Bluff and Salem and lost towns to the west. Go to the following link http://oa.mo.gov/bp/redistricting/new_state_legislative_districts.htm for more information. Pending Voter Law Legislation in Missouri will make it harder for seniors, minorities and others who generally vote Democratic to vote. There are 2 bills; S.J. Res 2-104 Photo Id Requirement and S.J. Res. 2-106 Proof of Citizenship Requirement. These will be on the ballot in November. You do not have to have a photo ID or proof of citizenship in the coming elections, so don't let anyone stop you. Elimination of the State Income Tax: There are already ads on TV for this movement called "Let the Voters Decide". Eliminating the State Income Tax and increasing the Sales Tax, which is a regressive tax, will reduce the taxes paid by corporations and put more of the burden on the middle and lower income population. Some studies have shown that the State Sales Tax would have to be almost 34% in order to raise enough money to replace the funds from the State Income Tax. The ads are very misleading; all they mention are elimination of the Income Tax and don't even mention the increased Sales Tax. This is being funded by Rex Sinquefield who put over $7 million into the Kansas City and St. Louis "Let Voters Decide" efforts in 2010. Challenge these ads and make sure everyone knows the real facts.
